The spitfire seed-thrower above made many mistakes, one of which was not watering his seed. But you can have too much of a good thing, and water is one of those. There is a not-too-subtle difference between watering and drowning your lawn. One house we saw had every outdoor spigot connected to snaking garden hoses that supplied two or three lawn sprinklers. It was like being at a water park. Unfortunately, the sprinkler placement showed no sign of organization; some parts of the lawn were barely touched whereas there was a small river coursing through one section of the lawn. As we often see, the waterworks were going during a blistering summer afternoon–the worst time of the day to give your lawn a drink. We still wonder to each other what that house’s next water bill looked like.
